TIMELINE

On September 13, 2006, the Board of Supervisors approved the project and the Final Environmental Impact Report (FEIR) for the Hazel Avenue Improvement Project. 

The Department of Transportation is now moving forward with the design component of this project which will widen Hazel Avenue from four to six lanes from Madison Avenue to US Highway 50 and includes 5-foot bicycle lanes and 10-foot sidewalks separated from the roadway by an 8-foot landscaped buffer strip. View letter to Hazel Avenue Residents.

Develop final design for Phase 1 Project
(between US Highway 50 and Curragh Downs Drive)
Fall 2008
Start construction of Phase 1 Project
Fall 2007 - Summer 2008
Appraisal, offer, relocation process for affected properties in Phase 1 Project and properties requiring full acquisition north of Curragh Downs Drive
Spring 2009
Appraisal, offer, acquisition process for affected properties in Phase 2 Project for properties requiring partial acquisition
Fall 2008 - Summer 2009
Soundwall construction followed by building demolition, and utility work in Phase 2
Fall 2010
Construction of Phase 1 completed
Spring 2010-Fall 2011
Construction of roadway improvements between Curragh Downs Drive
and Madison Avenue (Phase 3)
